REGULAR MEETING

December 9th, 1935

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 9th day of December, 1935. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. Downes, LeFevre, Keith, Frear, Burton, Hinkle and Vane.

MINUTES

Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Keith, the reading of the minutes of the last regular and special meetings was dispensed with.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

The City Manager’s report for the month of November was read by the Clerk and accepted as read upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Hinkle.

Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Frear, the Council adopted a resolution for opening the alley between Bradford Street and Governors Avenue north of Killen Street, providing the opening of this alley will be done at no cost to the City for rights-of-ways or moving of buildings.

POLICE REPORT

The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Frear.

FINANCIAL REPORT

The financial report for the month of November was read by the Clerk and accepted and approved by Council upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Burton.

ALDERMAN’S REPORT

The Alderman’s report for the month of November was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle. A check amounting to $37 was turned over to the City Manager with a report of six arrests.

Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton, the Clerk was instructed to refund the fine of $5 to sheriff Wm. G. Bush.

ASSESSOR FOR 1936-37-38

Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Keith, Mr. James B. Keith was reappointed by Council as City Tax Assessor for the next general and scrap assessments.

COMMITTEE

A committee from the Robbins Hose Company appeared before Council asking that the City furnish a truck to carry salvage equipment. Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Hinkle, Council approved the request of Robbins Hose Company with the understanding that the expenditure should not exceed $3,000 and all purchased to be approved by the City Council.

ORDINANCE COMMITTEE

The Mayor appointed the following committee to review the revamping of the City ordinances: Messrs. Keith, Frear and City Manager Shank.
