Who We Are
The Tax Office is comprised of a Director, Contractor, and the Administrative Assistant, who are here to ensure that all properties are treated fairly and impartially in accordance with our State Laws and City Charter Ordinances. It is our desire to help and support you in effective, responsible and courteous manner.
The Tax Office does not establish the dollar amount of taxes required.

Mission Statement
We, the employees of the City of Dover Tax Office, have a primary mission to maintain the property assessment system in a way that is equitable, fair and uniform to all citizens of the City of Dover and at the same time meet all constitutional and statutory requirements. We will strive to provide an optimal level of service, information and policy guidance to the public and to other governmental agencies.

PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE CITY OF DOVER, DELAWARE
CITY OF DOVER ASSESSOR’S OFFICE
Notice is hereby given that on April 1, 2026, an assessment list for the City of Dover will be displayed in three (3) locations for public inspection.
1. Dover Public Library, 35 Loockerman Plaza
2. Dover City Hall, City Clerk’s Office, 15 Loockerman Plaza
3. City Assessor’s Office, 5 E Reed Street
The assessment register will also be available on the City of Dover Website (www.cityofdover.com).
The Board of Assessment Appeals will hear formal assessment appeals. Appeals will be heard by appointment only. Formal Appeals will be scheduled after an Appeal Form and supporting documentation, if required, has been filled out by the Property Owner. Forms for appeals will be available at all three locations with the Assessment Lists. Forms are also available on the City of Dover Website (www.cityofdover.com). Instructions for the appeal process will be included with the form.
Filing deadline for Formal Property Assessment Appeals
April 30, 2026
All forms must be returned to the Assessor’s Office by 5:00 PM on April 30, 2026. Postmark will not be accepted. Exceptions cannot be made. Upon receipt of your appeal form and supporting documentation, if required, you will be contacted to schedule an appeal hearing.

June 1 – June 5, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. (if needed)
One evening (if needed)
