SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

A Special Council Meeting was held on August 3, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. with Council President Williams presiding. Members present were Mr. Leary, Mr. McGlumphy, Mr. Slavin, Mr. McGiffin, Mr. Hogan, Mr. Salters, and Mr. Ruane. Mrs. Russell was absent. Others present were Mayor Carey, Mr. DePrima, Mrs. Tieman, Mrs. Hawkins, and Mrs. McDowell.

AGENDA ADDITIONS/DELETIONS

Mr. Salters moved for approval of the agenda, seconded by Mr. Ruane and unanimously carried.

Mr. Leary moved to recess into executive session to discuss legal and personnel matters, seconded by Mr. Salters and unanimously carried.

Meeting recessed at 6:01 p.m. and reconvened at 8:09 p.m.

FOP LABOR CONTRACT

During the executive session, members were briefed on the status of the FOP negotiations.

Mr. Ruane moved to authorize the City Manager to hire an attorney from Young, Conaway, Stargatt, and Taylor, LLP to handle the mediation of the FOP contract, seconded by Mr. Leary and carried by a vote of seven (7) yes, one (1) no (Mr. Slavin) and one absent (Mrs. Russell).

Mr. Salters moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Leary and unanimously carried.
