MINUTES

IN ATTENDANCE: Sheila Anderson, Zach Carter, Morris Eskenazi, Gertrude Jackson, Bill Payk, Gene Ruane, Dorothy Snyder

ABSENT: Tony DePrima, Lois Dunning, Irv Levitt

July and August monthly reports – Dorothy moved to accept the reports and Bill seconded the motion.

July meeting minutes - Bill moved to accept the minutes and Dorothy seconded the motion.

Zach, Tony, Gene and Sheila attended a Kent County Levy Court meeting to present information about the new library. The Levy Court members agreed that Tony and Bob should talk about the issues. Gene said Levy Court is very priority oriented and he was encouraged when they talked about governance.

Sheila talked about the meeting with the staff for Representative Castle and Senator Carper. Zach said that we asked about potential funding sources. They will be doing research on how to possibly move the post office. City staff will be meeting with federal post office representatives in North Carolina.

Sheila distributed recent newspaper articles about Gene and Irv. Sheila mentioned that Mayor Speed presented awards to the winners of the Young Writers Contest.

Sheila invited the commission to visit the library on Monday, Sept. 25 at 1 PM for Governor Minner’s presentation about the Delaware An$wers Program and also invited everyone to the GoLocal kickoff on November 4 at 1 PM.

Gertrude made a motion to adjourn at 4:30 and Dorothy seconded the motion.
