SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

A Special Council Meeting was held on January 23, 2003, at 4:30 p.m., with Council President Carey presiding. Members of Council present were Mr. Ritter, Mr. Pitts, Mrs. Williams, Mr. Truitt, Mr. McGlumphy, Mr. Speed, Mr. Salters, and Mr. Ruane.

Council staff members present were Mr. DePrima, Mrs. McDowell, and Mayor Hutchison.

Agenda Additions/Deletions

Mr. Salters moved for approval of the agenda as presented, seconded by Mr. Truitt and unanimously carried.

Mr. Salters moved to adjourn into executive session for legal matters, seconded by Mr. Truitt and carried with Mr. McGlumphy, Mr. Ruane, and Mr. Ritter voting no.

Meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m. and reconvened at 6:00 p.m.

Proposed Acceptance of the PAS Compensation and Classification Study

As a result of reviewing the PAS Compensation and Classification Study during the executive session, several members felt that the Study should be accepted for release, with the understanding that it was not being approved for implementation.

Responding to Mr. Truitt, Mr. Szyjka indicated that, as a courtesy, he would like to provide the union representatives an opportunity to review the study before it is made available to the public.

Mr. Ruane moved to release the PAS Compensation and Classification Study to union representatives first then, 48-hours later, to the press and the public. The motion was seconded by Mr. McGlumphy and carried by a roll call vote of seven (7) yes and two (2) no (Mrs. Williams and Mr. Carey).

Mr. Ruane moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Ritter and unanimously carried.
