COUNCIL WORKSHOP

City Council met in a workshop session on August 12, 1991 at 6:30 p.m. Members present were Councilmen Daisey, Levitt, Hare, Pitts, Salters, Weyandt and Lynn. Council President Christiansen and Mr. VanSant was absent.

PRESENTATION - PRELIMINARY MASTER PLAN - SCHUTTE PARK

Representatives from Sasaki Associates, Inc. gave a presentation on the Preliminary Master Plan for the Schutte Park. The facilities included in the Plan are the results from public comments during the Parks and Recreation Committee of June 27, 1991.

Ms. Marsha Lee, Planner for Sasaki Associates, noted that the preliminary plan includes activity fields, swimming area and complexes. The cost estimate will include the cost for site preparation, utilities, roads, parking, trails, landscaping, community center, and recreational facilities proposed in the Preliminary Master Plan.

Responding to Mr. Salters, Ms. Lee stated that an amphitheater or outdoor concert area was not previously suggested or space allocated; however, Ms. Lee stated that the picnic area could be utilized for such event.

Responding to inquiries of a swimming pool, Ms. Lee stated that the budget would be impacted if the pool was enclosed within the designated Community Center area.

Responding to Mr. Salters, Mr. Carter stated that the Dover Little League is aware of the costs involved in the development of the recreational area designated for their use.

Replying to a representative of the Dover Little League, Ms. Lee estimated an increase of $1.5 Million dollars for an enclosed swimming pool.

After further review of the Preliminary Estimate of Probable Costs (Attached),

the Committee took no action.
