SPECIAL MEETING

April 15, 1971

A special meeting of City Council was held on Thursday, April 15, 1971 at 6:00 A.M. with Mayor Carroll presiding. Members present were Messrs Biggs, Coyle, Hayes, Holmes, Holpp, Legates, Muir and Walls.

FOUNDATION FILING BIDS

Bids were received for the foundation pilings for Unit #3 on April 14, 1971. Three contractors to committed bids. The low bid was that of Raymond International, Inc. of $168,000. This work is to commence approximately May 1, 1971. It will necessitate working on one week-end and closing down the operation of the plant, to drive piles adjacent to the present structure. Every effort will be made to notify the adjoining neighbors of the inconvenience that might be caused during this particular week-end. On motion of Mr. Holpp, seconded by Mr. Hayes, Council by unanimous roll call vote approved the awarding of the contract mentioned above to the low bidder, Raymond International, Inc.

TOWNE POINT NORTH STREETS

A request has been received from the developer of Towne Point North that the City accept the streets completed in the #2 section of Towne Point North. This is necessary for additional financing on the part of the present developer. A punch list has been made by the City of the necessary repairs and corrections that must be done on these streets. In order to insure that this work is completed by the developer, a certified check in the amount of $10,000 has been placed on deposit with the City as a performance bond. Additional paving and curbing is necessary on a portion of Townsend Boulevard. On motion of Mr. Coyle, seconded by Mr. Holmes, Council by a unanimous roll call vote, agreed to accept the streets involved in Section 2, Towne Point North and further stated that the work must be completed within 60 days and also, that the portion of Townsend Boulevard in question be completed.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FIREWORKS DISPLAY

A letter was received from the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce requesting the feeling of the City on a City Supported Fireworks Display for July 4th. A letter was received in January on this same request, of which this letter referred. On motion of Mr. Walls, seconded by Mr. Coyle, Council requested that Mr. Frederick Kelly, President of the Chamber of Commerce, or a representative of that organization be invited to the next Council meeting to discuss this request.
