SPECIAL MEETING
June 3, 1957
A special meeting of City Council was held Monday, June 3, 1957, at 9:00 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs Carroll, Davis, Hayes, Holpp, Mundy, Tischer, Turner and Zartman.
SIDEWALKS
Council, following a field trip earlier in the evening, discussed the problems of grass plots, sidewalks and terraces behind curb lines. The purpose of the trip and discussion was to determine the standards to be followed for sidewalk installation on various widths of streets and right-of-ways and what was to be presently done where the City was grading ans terracing behind curb lines recently installed. Suggested amendments to the sidewalk ordinance will be submitted to Council at a later date.
GARDEN COURT
The City of Dover has in process a civil suit against Garden Court Apartments in the amount of approximately $8600 which Garden Court has offered to settle out of court for the sum of $5000 to be paid at the rate of $1000 per year for five years. On motion of Mr. Tishcer, seconded by Mr. Carroll, Council authorized an offer to settle for the sum of $6000, to be paid immediately in cash.
SPENCE LAND
Dover has in process condemnation proceedings against lands of the Spence Heirs to provide right-of-way for extension of New Street between Dover and South Street. The Spence Heirs have offered to settle out of court for the sum of $1500. On motion of Mr. Tischer, seconded by Mr. Hayes, Council approved acceptance of the offer.
