SPECIAL MEETING
June 15, 1955
A special meeting of City Council was held Monday, June 15, 1955, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs. Biddle, Davis, Holpp, Mundy, Petty, Tischer and Zartman.
BOND SALE
Bids were received and opened for sale of City Dover Public Improvement Bonds, Series of 1955, in the amount of $700,000.00. The following bids were received:
Kidder, Peabody & Co. $703,079.50 2 1/4%
Mercantile Trust Co.
Schmist, Poole, Roberts & Parke
Harris Trust & Savings Bank 702,779.00 2 1/4%
Philadelphia National Bank 702,608.00 2 1/4%
C.J. Devine & Co.
Farmers Bank of Del. 701,911.00 2 1/4%
Halsey, Stuart & Co. 701,470.00 2 1/4%
Blair & Co. 703,962.00 2-3/8%
All bidders furnished certified checks for $14,000. Council, by unanimous vote, awarded the bonds to the low bidder, Kidder, Peabody & Co. and Mercantile Trust Co. on their bid of $703,079.50, plus accrued interest. At 2 1/4% per annum. Checks were returned to unsuccessful bidders.
DOVER PLANT BIDS
City Manager Ward reported on the receipt of bids on various items for the power plant. Council approved awards to the following:
Crane Company, Double disc gate valves - $7123.20
Chapman Valve Mfg. Co., 18" Check Valves - $1646.00
Maleson Company, Sump Pump, $247.00
R. George Ward & Son, Check valve for 6" bleeder Line, $636.00
Goodall Rubber Co., Rubber expansion joints, $1818.30
Council adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
