SPECIAL MEETING

April 27, 1953

The special meeting of City Council was held Monday, April 27, 1953, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs Biddle, Davis, Helm, Holpp, Mundy, Petty and Tischer.

TURBO-GENERATOR BIDS

A.C. Wood Associates Inc. reported that they had tabulated and studied bids received April 20, 1953 on turbo-generators and condensers and recommended that the bid of Dravo Corporation be accepted for the turbo-generators and the bid of Elliott Company be accepted for the condensers.

Council made no contract award. Announcement of the engineers’ recommendations was made to interested bidders. Council discussed with individual bidders the problem confronting the City of disposing of four 2000 KV substations which would not be required by the City in the event additional generating capacity was installed in the power plant.

Council directed that the four substations be offered for public sale, two for Dover, Delaware and two for Sharon, Pennsylvania, with the provision that the bids on the substations are subject to prior sale of any number from one to four at $25,000 each.

Council adjourned at 12:05 A.M.
