SPECIAL MEETING

March 28, 1953

The special meeting of City Council was held Saturday, March 28, 1953, at 2:00 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs Biddle, Helm, Holpp, Mundy, Petty and Tischer.

LETTER TO AIR FORCE

Council approved forwarding a letter to the U.S. Air Force in Washington outlining the position of the City in supplying current to the Dover Air Force Base and directed that the letter be published in newspapers.

DP&L SUIT

City Solicitor Hughes informed Council of the present status of court litigation in which the City is attempting to compel the Public Service Commission of Delaware to rule on the matter if jurisdiction in supplying electric current to the Dover Air Base.

CHARTER AMENDMENT

Council approved the preparation of legislation to increase the Charter provisions for emergency borrowing capacity of the City of Dover from $50,000 to $300,000.

PURCHASE OF GENERATING EQUIPMENT

Council discussed the purchase of generating equipment for the Dover power plant. Councilmen expressed the opinion that prices should be secured on the installation of one 5000 KW generator, two 5000KW generators and a 10,000 KW generator, so that comparisons could be made and a definite decision reached on the size to install.
