SPECIAL MEETING
March 3, 1953
The special meeting of City Council was held Tuesday, March 3, 1953, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs Biddle, Davis, Helm, Holpp, Mundy, Petty, Smith and Tischer.
Council discussed the proposal to furnish the Air Base with its power requirements and the letter received from the Air Force stating they had considered our proposal and were ready to conclude a contract with the Delaware Power & Light Company on the basis of their proposal to furnish power. Council directed that a letter be sent to the U.S. Air Force telling of Council’s decision to purchase a 10,000 KW turbo-generator without benefit of Federal funds. The City of Dover can therefore offer power to the Air Base on the same terms as Delaware Power & Light and it would be unnecessary for the Air Force to invite the Power Company into territory now served by Dover.
Council directed that the public be informed of its decision to purchase a generator and of all the facts leading to Council’s decision to make the purchase.
Council adjourned at 10:30 P.M.
