SPECIAL MEETING
March 31, 1950
A Special Meeting of City Council was held on Friday, March 31, 1950 at 12 o’clock noon, with Mayor Storey presiding. Members present were Messrs. Behen, Culver, Petty, Smith and Wilson.
SALE OF LOT
In accordance with a resolution adopted March 6, 1950, Council met to open and consider bids received for the lot East of City Hall, offered for sale upon certain terms and conditions as set forth in the notice of sale duly advertised for three consecutive issues of two local newspapers.
Wilson and Wilson, Realtors, Dover, Delaware submitted a bid of $9000.00, stipulated that the bid applied only for sale of the lot without reservations, and enclosed two checks in the amounts of $1500.00 each.
Council rejected the bid and ordered the deposit returned. The bid in no respect met the requirements for sale of the lot.
No other bid was received.
DISTRIBUTION OF HANDBILLS
The City Solicitor was directed to report at the next meeting of city council on the provisions of the present City ordinance covering distribution of handbills.
CHICKEN OF TOMORROW PARADE
Council approved the request of Mr. Harry McSherry on behalf of the Chicken Festival Committee to hold a parade in conjunction with the Festival.
ASSESSMENT LIST
Council directed the City Clerk to secure from John VonRider the assessment list prepared by him from City records for private use.
