SPECIAL MEETING

January 14, 1950

A Special Meeting of City Council was held Saturday, January 14, 1950 at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor Storey presiding. Members present were Messrs. Behen, Carroll, Culver, Lofland, Mikell, Petty, Smith and Wilson.

ELECTION COMMITTEE

Action of City Council at its meeting January 9, 1950, which appointed an election committee, was rescinded.

The following committee was appointed to conduct the municipal election January 16, 1950: City Alderman Conrad, Councilmen Behen and Smith. Councilmen Lofland and Petty were appointed alternate committeemen.

RESOLUTION

By unanimous vote of all members of council, the following resolution was adopted:

RESOLVED, that all provisions of the Election Laws of the State of Delaware insofar as they are applicable or may be adapted, and all rules and regulations which may lawfully be made thereunder by the Election Officials of the City of Dover and are not inconsistent with or contrary to the provisions of the Charter of the City of Dover, are hereby adopted to govern the City Election to be held on Monday, January 16, 1950, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Election officials for said election are hereby authorized and directed to conduct said City Election in full accordance with the provisions and the purpose and intent of this Resolution.

BALLOTS

The City Clerk was directed to have printed 2500 additional ballots.

QUESTIONED BALLOTS

Council directed that if the Election Committee was unsatisfied with the qualifications of any voter, that the voter be required to make affidavit in support of his statements, and that the ballot be accepted and placed in a marked envelop apart from the regular ballots.

Council adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
