SPECIAL MEETING

                                                                                                                        October 2, 1946

A special meeting of City Council was held on Wednesday, October 2, at 7:30 P.M. with Vice-Mayor Keith presiding. The following members were present: Messrs. Downes, Vane, Hartnett, Mikell, Carson and Hinkle.

Purpose of Meeting

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the use of the baseball park by Dover High School for football. Mr. Wilcox stated that the contract entered into by City Council and the Philadelphia National League Baseball Club prohibited the use of the park for football. He said, however, that he had heard that there was no objection by the Phillies for the High School to use it provided that the infield would be put back in the same condition as it was when the school started to use it. Upon motion of Mr. Carson seconded by Mr. Downes, Mr. Wilcox was instructed to get permission from the Phillies to let Dover High School use the park and that any cost of reconditioning would be paid for by the City. It was understood, however, that HTE use of the park was just for regular games but no practice games.

The question of paying for electric current used was then discussed. Upon motion of Mr. Mikell, seconded by Mr. Downes, it was decided to let the school have current without cost.

Condemnation of land of William Ward

Upon motion of Mr. Carson, seconded by Mr. Vane, it was decided to award Mr. Boyeer who leases the land from Mr. ward, the sum of $10.00 for damages in connection with running HTE Lotus Street sewer.

Council adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
