REGULAR MEETING
March 13, 1944
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 13th dya of March, 1944. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered “Present”: Messrs. LeFevre, Keith, Hartnett, Burton, Vane, and Hinkle.
MINUTES
Upon motion of messrs. Burton and Hinkle, the reading of the minut4es of the last regular meeting was dispensed with.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
The City Manager’s report for the month of February was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle.
Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Hinkle, City Council voted to rescind the resolution establishing additional power rates to customers of the City of Dover under Special Meeting December 12, 1936, and the City Manager was instructed to prepare and submit to the City Council a new rate schedule to be adopted at the next Regular Meeting.
ALDERMAN’S REPORT
The Alderman’s Report for the month of February was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle. A check to $375.55 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of 28 arrest
POLICE REPORT
The monthly report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton.
BILLS
A Bill was presented to the City Council by the Mayor which had been paid by Mr. Howard Buckson for cleaning his sewer lateral from his home to the Street on Maple Lane. Mr. Buckson claimed that his sewer was found to be absolutely clear and that the stoppage was in the main City sewer; therefore, he did not feel that he should have to pay for digging up his sewer lateral when it was clear of stoppage. Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hartnett, the City Council instructed the City Clerk to draw an order on the treasurer for $18.45 to reimburse Mr. Buckson for this expenditure.
REMOVAL OF MILL BUILDING
Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle, the City Manager was authorized to advertise and dispose of the old mill building located on Kings Highway and belonging to the City of Dover.
COMMITTEE
Mr. A. B. Magee, Jr. appeared before the City Council and presented a petition asking that the City repair the mill dam at Silver Lake and at the same time, make provisions for a community swimming hole.
FIRE MARSHAL’S REPORT
Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Burton, the annual report of the Fire Marshal was received and the fire marshal was instructed to turn a copy of this report containing his recommendations over to the City Manager.
