SPECIAL MEETING
August 1st, 1940
A Special Meeting of the City Council was held on the first day of August, 1940, at 2:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. Downes, LeFevre, Keith, Hinkle, Vane, Millman and Frear.
PURPOSE OF MEETING
Mayor Woodford explained to Council that the purpose of this meeting was to consider the purchase of a farm suitable for a city municipal airport. After some discussion, upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, Council authorized Mayor Woodford and City Manager Shank to purchase the Dawes farm at a price not to exceed $8,000.00.
Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, the Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a project with the Works Progress Administration for the purpose of developing this municipal airport.
