SPECIAL MEETING
February 5th, 1940
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 P. M. by Mayor Woodford, and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. LeFevre, Downes, Keith, Frear, Hinkle, Vane and Millman.
Mayor Woodford presented a report before Council that the new field house at the Dover Public School was being kept open each night for the purpose of community recreation such as basketball, etc. He explained that this could not continue unless the City appropriated a substantial amount of money for this purpose, the money to be used for paying an instructor and running the building.
After some discussion, the following motion was put to vote: upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, the sum of $600 be appropriated for community recreational activities for the citizens of the City of Dover to be expended under the direction of the Mayor. The following vote was taken:
Messrs. LeFevre, yes;
Downes, yes;
Keith, no;
Hinkle, no;
Vane, no;
Millman, no;
and Frear, yes.
ELECTRIC RATE FOR THE DOVER PUBLIC SCHOOL
Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Hinkle, the electric rate for the Dover Public School will be 1 ½ ¢ per KW on all electric current consumed. This motion was carried by the following vote:
Messrs. LeFevre, yes;
Downes, yes;
Keith, no;
Frear, yes;
Vane, no;
Hinkle, yes;
and Millman, no.
MATERIAL FOR SIDEWALK FOR THE DOVER PUBLIC SCHOOL
Upon motion of Messrs. Vane and Hinkle, Council voted to furnish the material for laying sidewalks for the Dover Public School.
POLICE SALARIES
Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and LeFevre, the salaries of Clifford Artis and James Collins, officers of the City Police force, are to be increased to $32.50 per week.
