Job Title: Sign/Street Painter

Salary range: DOE Labor Grade 20 / $23.61 Per Hour - Based on Qualifications

Job Description:

Do you have what it takes to be part of our team? The Sign/Street Painter position primarily, repair/replace signs, paint/refresh paint for curbs, line striping parking spaces, install/refresh paint for ADA parking spaces, pedestrian crosswalks, put up temporary road work signs, refurbishes subdivision marquee signs, assists with requests for events cone and barrel requests and assists as needed with additional duties. This position also utilizes a line striping machine to accomplish line striping tasks. This position works under direct supervision.

Job Responsibilities

•Monitors and reviews work assignments and determines resources required to complete tasks, such as number of workers, materials, tools, or equipment.

•Replaces, repairs, and maintains street and traffic signs and markings.

•Painting lines, lettering, and symbols in streets and at intersections.

•Cleans/maintains paint areas and painting assist equipment routinely.

•Places flags, signs, and traffic cones around work sites to alert motorists to the situation.

•Supports other maintenance applications as directed.

•Performs seasonal tasks such as removing leaves and snow.

•Assists other City departments as directed by supervisor and/or Public Works Department Head.

Required Qualifications

•Requires high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.

•Requires a valid Delaware Commercial Driver’s License with a valid Medical Examiners Certificate or the ability to obtain within 6 months probationary period.

•Requires two years of aggregate signs and markings experience and/or knowledge of signs and markings experience.

•Required to accomplish and maintain a flagger certification.
