His tenure reflects both longevity and trust, built on a record of hands-on leadership in budgeting, public safety, and economic development. Anderson was most recently re-elected in April 2025, extending his service through May 2029. During his time on council, Anderson has held senior leadership roles including Council President and Vice Mayor. As Chair of the Legislative, Finance, and Administration Committee, he helped oversee the administration and preparation of more than $200 million in city funds, managing four major funds and supervising multiple department level managers. His work has included authoring and advancing ordinances that reduced spending, updated purchasing policies, strengthened public safety practices, and improved the local business climate. Anderson has also chaired the Parks, Recreation, and Community Enhancement Committee and the Construction Code Appeals Committee, giving him direct involvement in capital planning, community amenities, and regulatory oversight. In addition, he has served on the Safety Advisory and Transportation Committee, the Dover Human Relations Commission, and the Downtown Dover Partnership Board of Directors. He has acted as a liaison to Kent County and the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce, helping align city priorities with regional partners. One of Anderson’s most visible accomplishments was serving as project manager for Dover’s Innovative Readiness Training partnership with the National Guard and Reserves. Under his leadership, the program delivered more than $1.6 million in medical, dental, and vision services to approximately 3,200 residents, representing one of the largest community health initiatives in the city’s history. Anderson also authored the Making Dover Prosper Initiative, which saw unemployment drop in half in less than 2 years. At the professional level, Anderson works as a Combat Crew Communications Technician supporting Dover Air Force Base operations. He holds advanced certifications and is responsible for communications systems, inspections readiness, and training for nearly 300 aircrew members supporting global Air Mobility Command missions. His background includes more than two decades of experience in communications, network infrastructure, and secure systems across military, government, and private sector environments. Earlier in his career, Anderson worked as an independent network contractor and service manager on large scale technology installations for schools, healthcare facilities, retail chains, and financial institutions across the Mid Atlantic. He has also managed small businesses locally, increasing sales and modernizing operations through technology and online systems. Anderson is a decorated veteran of the Delaware Army National Guard, where he served until 2015, including a deployment to Afghanistan with the 198th Expeditionary Signal Battalion. His military service included secure communications, satellite systems, and classified materials handling. Taken together, Anderson’s record reflects a career rooted in operational responsibility, fiscal stewardship, and delivery of measurable results. His approach to public service has consistently focused on practical governance, institutional competence, and improving quality of life for the people of Dover. |
