The City of Dover Electric Department is responsible for the reliability of the electric system as well as the engineering, construction and maintenance of the electric infrastructure.  The Electric Team maintains a system that covers 75 square miles and serves approximately 25,000 customers.  The City also operates a 43 MW generation station at Van Sant by Schutte Park, maintained by NAES Corporation, that generates electricity for use in Dover and to sell into the regional power market.  We are very proud of our reliability and of those employees that work hard everyday to keep the power on for our customers!

There are continual efforts around our footprint to improve and maintain the electric system to include accommodating new services to residences, commercial and industrial customers.  We are proud to serve the Dover AFB, Kraft-Heinz, Essity, Delaware State University, Delmarva Corrugated, Bay Health/Kent General and Bally's as our largest customers and we have worked extremely hard to maintain a healthy partnership with them.

Electric Efficiency and Savings Programs

Efficiency Smart - In partnership with DEMEC, Dover is excited to now offer this program to our customers so they can get advice on how to reduce energy consumption, obtain energy efficient products, and learn about rebates and discounts.  Efficiency Smart also works with commercial and industrial customers to offer cost savings solutions for their energy costs.

DEMEC - DEMEC has multiple energy efficiency programs linked on their website. Are you curious about EVs? There are resources on them there too.

Energize Delaware - Whether you are a business, home owner, farm owner, renter or a non-profit, Energize Delaware has several options to help you learn how to save money on energy costs. Incentives and tax credits at the Federal, State and local levels can also be found on their website too.
