Job Title: Motor Equipment Operator II - Sanitation

Salary range: DOE Labor Grade 20 / $22.70 Per Hour (Based on Qualifications)

Department: Public Works

Hours: Full Time

Job Description:

There’s never been a better time to explore a future with the City of Dover.  We are looking for a qualified applicant for the position of Motor Equipment Operator II in the Sanitation Division of Public Works Department.  The essential function of this position within the organization is to perform labor in support of City operations within the Sanitation Division.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect and transport refuse materials to the landfill
  • Operate bulk and rear loading refuse trucks fluently
  • Assist in snow removal operating various pieces of equipment ranging from single axle dump trucks with plows to backhoes
  • Inspect motor equipment daily and perform minor maintenance
  • Assist with Rapid Rail service when others are off
  • Complete job-related logs and forms and assist in providing information to the public
  • Overtime is required as needed
  • Ability to perform medium to heavy work lifting up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Motor Equipment Operator-related experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate, and a Tanker Endorsement.  
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
