Dover is a city that has made tremendous progress in recent years. We are building safer neighborhoods, growing our economy, and strengthening community trust. I remain committed to keeping that progress moving forward. 

In recent weeks, Dover FOP Lodge #15 has raised a series of allegations against Chief Thomas Johnson Jr. These claims have been repeated publicly, but they do not withstand scrutiny when weighed against the facts, City policy, and the law. 

As Mayor, I take every allegation seriously. Since Lodge #15 chose to make its accusations in public, it is only fitting that they be addressed in the same manner. On August 27, 2025, I invited the Executive Board of Lodge #15 to a public forum where their concerns could be discussed openly. As of today, they have not responded. 

While we will always take credible concerns seriously, these allegations were designed to distract rather than to build solutions. We will not allow them to divert us from our mission. This matter is closed. 

I have full confidence in Chief Johnson and in the women and men of the Dover Police Department who serve this community with dedication and integrity. In the days ahead, we will continue to support our officers, strengthen relationships, and move Dover forward together.
